The Market Report You Haven’t Read Yet, part 3, Market
This year I was fortunate to help the fabulous Emily Herrick in her Michael Miller booth exhibiting her new fabric line, Sodalicious! It comes in two color ways regular and diet . . . because she is just cool like that. Her fabric is fresh and summery and her design is impeccable. This combination won her the creativity booth award. Congratulations Emily!
I had two book signings at Market for my new book, Simply Jelly Rolls. One book signing with United Notions (Moda),
and the other with Checker Distributors. These were an opportunity that I enjoyed immensely! Thanks to those who came!
I had two new patterns with Checker Distributor’s, Cut Loose Press. If you like these patterns, as for them at your favorite quilt shop!
The first one is Hexagons and Holly. It takes one set of Moda’s 2 1/2″ squares (or scraps) and one package of Hugs and Kisses Fusible Hexies. This is my third seasonal project like this. It is the perfect introduction to English Paper Piecing!
The second is Love on the Rocks. This pattern uses a jelly roll and the Creative Grids Hexagon Ruler. I used Amy Ellis’ Modern Neutrals. It does have y-seams. If you have never sewn a y-seam, this is a great one to start on. The hexagons are large. After writing my book, Simply Hexagons, last year, I realized that y-seams really aren’t that bad. I suggest you give them a try when you are ready.
My fourth quilt was in the Penny Rose (Riley Blake’s reproduction fabric company) booth. It was made with Sue Daley’s fabric Forget Me Not. This fabric is just beautiful. It was calming to sew. My quilt was folded on top for this display. I could tell that it had been taken out and shown a few times. It looked different sometimes when I walked by.
The pattern for this quilt is Hexi Stars. It comes from my book Simply Hexagons. I cut the hexagons from a fat quarter bundle.
Here is a little bit larger picture of the quilt. I can’t wait to get it back. I love how serene it is.
